At the recent 8th Annual Outdoor and Sporting Heritage
Day we were treated to see three displays of some original flies tyed by Carrie Stevens and Herbie Welch.
The flies were on loan from the Rangeley Lakes
Region Historical Society.
Also on display were two Fish log books from Upper
Dam containing the records of Carrie Stevens' historic brook trout catches.
To see the flies and other memorabilia in

The following pictures are from a recent afternoon trip to the Upper
Dam. We are pleased to share them. The nosalgia is very intense altho most of the camps
and the Hotel and Casino are gone. If you look hard you can still sense the flavor of the old times at the pool. What a treat
it was to walk the Portage Rd. between Richardson Lake and Mooselookmeguntic Lake. As we looked at Camp Midway where Carrie
spent so many years with her husband, we could almost feel her still there at her tying bench. Then we walked back down to
the pool and you knew that was where she caught that huge Brookie. If you get the chance it is well worth the trip to get
there. What a wonderful afternoon it was.
